Gordana Olbina is a Laboratory Director at ILS. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Physiology from University of Belgrade in Serbia. She did her post-doctoral research in Molecular and Cell Biology Laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Sciences, where she studied regulation of cell growth by gap junctional intercellular communication protein connexin-43.
Before joining ILS, she was a Senior Scientist at Genoptix, a San Diego based company specialized in personalized medicine for hematology and oncology. She developed a molecular diagnostic test for detection of the JAK2 V617F mutation in patients with myeloproliferative disorders and validated clinical tests in the CLIA certified laboratory.
