Intrinsic LifeSciences has received a Phase I SBIR (R43) Award by NIH/NIDDK/NHLBI: “Hepcidin Lateral Flow Device for Prediction of Acute Kidney Injury”
We are developing a portable lateral flow device that can determine urine and plasma hepcidin concentration rapidly and quantitatively for post-cardiopulmonary bypass patients potentially afflicted with acute kidney injury.

Instrinsic Life Sciences was just awarded an NIH Small Business Innovation Research Grant. CEO Mark Westerman, Ph.D. announced that the company received $350,000 for the first phase of assay commercialization activities with potential for $1MM over two years for Phase II activities. Dr. Tomas Ganz, Co-founder of ILS, will be inaugurated as the President of the International BioIron Society. His leadership in the BioIron field creates novel insights into iron homeostasis and diseases involving the molecular biology of the iron regulatory hormone hepcidin.
